#OCTPOWRIMO: Every day for one month I’ll collect inspiration from here and write/post a poem here. You can too!
Please enjoy music while you read…
Today I have Do You Remember by a favourite artist of mine, Ane Brun.
This song inspired the following poem.
PROMPT: “Cadence Poetry“
Belongs Between Us
.
Do you remember
when we fought past twilight
then through till midnight
and wept beyond the day, which
made our past a putrid patch thereof,
tainting the peachy warmth of our love?
.
What happened, then?
We allowed fear to come between us
like a bubble of pain; screaming, crying and pushing.
When only my fingers merging with yours,
belongs between us.
.
Yet, when we first met
through our mutual friend,
and talked till nights end
and laughed beyond that night, and
our future seemed a pure patch of hope
igniting the peachy warmth of love.
.
So what happens, now?
We allow warmth return between us
like a bubble of calm; moving, humming and soothing.
Along with my future, singing with yours
our song, between us

“When only my fingers merging with yours,
belongs between us.” Loved this line, too!
I also liked the contrast with repetition of stanzas 2 and 4.
Lovely poem. Thank you. xoA

Zoe stole my favorite line! Hmph! Seriously, that line about the merging fingers is arresting…loved it! I also liked the peachy warmth of love…I’m not sure why…probably the fuzz…but I think of peaches as warm and comforting. Very nice.

[…] I’m also Celebrating keeping up with the 31 poems in 31 days of October rule for a meme I’m involved with (or OcPoWriMo). For that, I had to write my poem, so you can po over to that if you fancy it. The poem today was prompted in part by Ana Brun’s Do You Remember?, which is available to listen to along with my poem (just press the play button), and the prompt given for this meme, to write a poem with cadence. The post and link leading to the OcPoWriMo blog is HERE. […]
