#OCTPOWRIMO: Every day for one month I’ll collect inspiration from here and write/post a poem here. You can too!

PROMPT: “Random.”

Write a poem in any form using words beginning with the same letter. I chose the letter ‘X’ and went here to collect words. You might like to reference those I chose for definitions.

Yellow Teardrops

.

The xanthic of your eyes highlighted

xanthoderm, wrapping around you

like a xenium from the next world,

joining you to your death,

for our lifetime,

like xiphopagus. And so,

as you slowly xeransised, I wept

often to myself – who else was there?

And now, in your absence,

I find I still do…

  1. You are a perfect xenagogue — someone who leads strangers, in this case, to a new place. I really liked the poem, its sadness, and thank you for including the link to The Phrontistery with that neat alphabetical list of rare words. It helped me understand your poem and the beautiful yellow of loss.

  2. I so appreciate all these comments, not least of all because it tells me you read it, looked up the words, came back and read it again to understand it. That’s awesome. 😀 And Beth, you always know what I’m trying to say. 🙂 I chose X because I thought it’d be a great opportunity to research words non of us probably ever use, let alone know of. As writers, increasing our vocabulary is important. X

  3. This is a very interesting piece and your choice of ‘x’ is very enlightening – I learnt a lot of new words today and you used these unique words very well, placing them in perfect positions, making this post good!
